Hey guys. I've decided to get a Viper Vortex PST 6-24x50mm scope for my .300 win mag tikka t3 varmint. Just wondering how many MOA does this particular scope have in its top turret? I have written up the ballistic charts for every grain of .300 win mag bullet and 200gr looks to be the best for my uses. I plan to shoot out to 1500 yards for target shooting and hunting and my charts say that I have to adjust my MOA turret UP 49.3 MOA to hit out at that range with a 200gr bullet. Just wondering if this scope would be capable of doing those kind of adjustments.

Cheers,
Aussie. :)

So basically I want it with 100+ MOA elevation adjustment or a scope that is equally as good as the one stated above, but with 100+ MOA.

To get that kind of adjustment range, with you being from Australia, I would look at Sightron, Night Force, or Leupold. The Vortex, I believe, only has 75 MOA in that mag range.  http://swfa.com/Weaver-4-20x50-Tactical-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P55481.aspx - http://swfa.com/Weaver-4-20x50-Tactical-30mm-Rifle-Scope-P55481.aspx , I am not sure if this scope is available there, and it does not have the top end mag, but it is a decent scope with I believe over 100 MOA.

Ok man I will have a look into that. Thank you :)

Also, i was doing a bit more looking last night, and came across a 30 MOA scope base for my particular rifle. If i could use that to zero it in, I should have around 60 MOA. Is that right?

Theoretically that is close. But it is not an exact science where your true zero is located. There will be some give and take as you begin to make adjustments with your scope.

Like Billy stated, the PST's come with 75 MOA of internal adjustment. With a 30 MOA rail that would provide you with 105 MOA.

The downside to using specialized rails like that, in my opinion is that you are typically not able to get a true 100 yard zero. In any case with the .300 WM you may not need a 100 yard zero, it could be longer because that is a very capable round with great ballistics. You maybe able to extend that out to 300 yards and achieve what you are looking to do.
