Hey optictalkers, I should have put this out here a few weeks ago, but I'm finally getting around to it. I'm looking for a trap gun, used or new as long as it's a good value. I've been checking the usual places: Gun Broker, Guns International, Guns Unlimited in Omaha, Cabelas, Joel Etchens, Armslist and have found several but nothing at a very good price. My focus is primarily singles, but a good o/u that would allow me to shoot doubles would be okay also. Everyone says look for a good used BT99 or 100 but they seem to run as much or more than a new BT99 conventional ($1220.00, and I don't like the beavertail forearm). Cabelas has a nice Beretta 686 Onyx Pro trap with a non adjustable come and only 3 chokes for $2499 but tax takes it to almost $2700. Etchens has few used Beretta 687's but they are Silver Pigeons are are $2495 and $2695-used. I've found a nice Beretta 682 top single used in like new condition in Michigan at Michigan Shooting Center but asking price is $1900 and they haven't responded in days to an offer (gun is on consignment). There is a decent 682 top single combo on G.B but it has a weird looking recoil pad and the wood is decent at best, starts at $1600. So maybe if it can be had cheap enough and blueing is decent (there is wear on the bottom of the reciever, probably shot alot) there is room for a recoil system and to refinish the wood. There looks to be a nice 682 top single combo on Armslist but it is in Wilkes-Barre PA, 21 hrs away, and the seller responded to an email but has yet to send more pics. Plus I'm not comfortable sending someone $22 to $2500 and hope the gun was represented well and I actually get it. So does anyone know of a good trap gun for sale, or where else to look. Budget is hopefully $2000 but can be adjusted if the gun warrants it. Contenders: Browning BT99/BT100 Browning XT trap 30 or 32" Beretta 680 series, unsingle, top single, o/u, or 2 barrel set. Thanks for the help and advice.
