Hi all,

Just registered here for some advice, Really hope that someone will be able to shed some light onto some binoculars I have just been given,
I know absolutely nothing about them and after searching the net for quite some time I am still none the wiser !!

I have just been given some Binoculars that look very ol and look to be brass,
they say CALLAGHAN & CO one one of the eye viewing pieces and the other says DF 23a NEWBOND ST LONDON,
I am unable to find any other distinguishing marks ?

many thanks
Dave

Simon Spiers is a member here.  You can also find Simon on the binocular sub forum at bird forum.  He has an astonishing array of vintage era binoculars.  He would be your best source of information.  You might also try to register at BF and ask there too.  There is quite a bit of posting of various vintage binoculars there.  I don't know how often Simon looks in here, but a PM here and BF should work.

Pictures will ultimately be essential.  In particular get good shots of each of the prism plates, and  the objective end, particularly the hinge area. Good shots of the eye pieces too.   Whatever shots you take will need to be able to show detail.

Good Luck. Smile

Here is a link to his collection photos:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/binoculars/ - http://www.flickr.com/photos/binoculars/

Just use Google to find bird forum.
