While I don't have one, I've owned and continue to own a number of .308s. What are you interested in usage-wise? I understand if it's just looking for this particular rifle, which appears to be discontinued. But on the chance you're looking for something similar, I might have some recommendations.

specifically will it be carry or platform shooting, what features make this model attractive to you?

I have a hunting friend that hunts from shooting house with this same rifle, and it is best shooting deer rifle I have ever shot , recoil is so light and great trigger pull, I like the camo on the stock and barrel , I also like the heavier barrel , I don't carry this gun hardly ever , I ride in on side by side and climb in deer house so the weight is not a problem. Thank you guys for input, keep it coming for more ideas!!!! Thanks Rickferd

the vanguard action, I believe, is made by Howa. I had one in 22-250 with a beautiful stock, shot lights out, in the 90's (until the barrel went). These are outstanding guns in view of the price. I still look for these for the wood, and blueing (used) and have had them in 7mag, 270 and 243. I don't think you would be disappointed, especially as you have had the chance to try one.
