what would be a good scope for a 9mm ar-15 with a 16" barrel?

and i mean a scope not a red dot?

right now it is wearing a 3-9x40 bushnell , shoots like a rat fink fiend but it 'looks" a little crazy with that big honking deer rifle scope hanging up there.  it is very accurate at short ranges  and i don't want to spoil that.

what are people running on pistol powered carbines anyway?

This are all good quality scopes that have a straight tube that would look more at home on your small carbine.

This one is 9" long

Similar scope without the "tactical" bells and whistles

yea that weaver v is just about right.

that optisan mamba might be a winner for the 9mm too. it would be interesting to see how the ranging does on that 55gr 223 set up.

these 9mm carbines are only effective to about 200m max --sure you can hit further, but if it is bigger than a small rabbit a 9mm ain't gonna do much.

Im in a mood and probably shouldn't post this.

I might suggest  http://www.samplelist.com/Falcon-Menace-15-5x30-Tactical-Rifle-Scope-DEMO-A-P64172.aspx - http://www.samplelist.com/Falcon-Menace-15-5x30-Tactical-Rifle-Scope-DEMO-A-P64172.aspx

If you are worried about penetration.

Shooting 300yrd sub sonic .308 150gr bullets FMJ or Plated penetrate about 4 inches of tissue.

147gr 9mm FMJ wouldn't hurt that bad...Hollow points wouldn't even penetrate that far.

To me this comment falls into the .22 cant stop anything, the Indians had it all wrong when they used 22lr to hunt buffalo and deer and the white man.

looks like i scored a 2-7x viper off the sample list .

maybe i can play musical chairs with the scopes and find one in my scope bag  that don't look crazy on the 9mm but still be a shooter--
