Looking for a long range scope to be used for target shooting to 500 yds and long field shots for deer hunting. I was looking at the Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50mm G2DMR reticle first focal plane scope but have never owned a first focal plane scope and not sure if I would get used to the reticle changing size based on magnification. Any feedback on how the first focal plane influences ranging and experience with it is appreciated.

I also like the Elite 6500 2.5-16x50mm mil dot scope.

I have also considered Nikon monarch 3 6-24x50 and Leupold Vx-3 4.5-14x50 scopes.

What is your budget? And first focal plane makes ranging easier. Do a search here on first focal plane. There have been a number of posts concerning it.

This would be very high on my list. And I would take it over the one's you listed. But that is my personal preference. The SS 3-15.

How close do you think you will be when you are hunting? You list a 6-24. A 6x on the bottom end for me at least is a little too much. I personally like a wider FOV.
