I'm going nuts. I don't have a local store that carries this scope. I'm trying to get an idea of how good the glass is in this scope. Could anyone tell me about the glass and what it compares to? I was also looking at the Meopta Meopro scopes, but no stores have those either.

Thanks

I had that scope. The glass was quite decent...like in-between a VX2 and VX3 to my eyes. I did not like the power indicator markings  (they were very small and hard to read) nor the reticle (not very bold) so I sold the scope. It was certainly usable, but those quirks annoyed me. I have no history / knowledge with the Meopro. I did have a Meopta Meostar R1 that was awesome albeit a bit short on ER.

BTW, welcome to the OT forums! Excellent

I would buy the Meopta Meopro. It is better glass than Vortex Viper.

I really like the PST's, but I will be honest.
Optically the Meopro will have the upper hand in this fight.

Welcome to the OT! Howdy

Thanks guys. I was reading about all these great things about Vortex, and now they are giving me a cheap vibe the more I read and see.

They are NOT cheap or poor optically.

The Vipers are extremely durably built, have an excellent warranty, track superbly, have long, constant eye relief, and very nice reticles.

The Meopro is also very nice, and has a little better optics, but we aren't talking leaps and bounds here.

I would take either over a VX-3 any day.

How's the eye relief on the Meopta?

A constant 3.5.  Plenty.  The Meopros are a little longer than the Meostars.

I ended up buying the Vortex. It's not the clearest scope I've ever looked through, but I really like the turrets, adjustments, and eye relief. I would buy another.

I own two there scopes including the one your asking about except in the 50mm obj. I find their glass to be very good. Much better than any VX-3's that I own from the day. The sight PIC is fast acquiring and bright and clear in low light.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Viper Scopes are really nice. I´m trying the new HD-5 scopes and even though they have very nice glass, they´re not very user friendly when trying to make quick shots. It requires very good eye alignment to be able too see through it. The viper is a little more forgiving. I´m not saying the viper is a better scope, It´s just a nice, user friendly scope. It tracks flawlessly, decent glass. IMO best in it´s price range.
