Looking to put a scope on my new DD M4v7 LW, 5.56. Love the weight of this gun and want to keep it simple. Old eyes need help though. Looking at the vx6 1x6 or vxr 1x4 or 2x7. I like the fire dot 4 and the german #4 in these scopes. Not planing on running irons. May, consider minni red dot mounted at an angle with the 2x7 or larger. Gun will be for hogs on the move. Maybe close range deer;most shots will be under 150 yds. The vr6 seems to be the ideal scope but pricey. I like the German #4 retical or the new Multigun. The patrol seems over priced for knobs and retical. Any one with any off these shed some pros and cons. 2x7 seems to be the In between, but not a great fov up close. 1x4 could be a good choice also. Any help?

http://swfa.com/Optic-Packages-C4618.aspx - http://swfa.com/Optic-Packages-C4618.aspx    SWFA has put together a lot of AR-15 optics packages. I take it you are a Leupold guy so is that is what you are comfortable with go for it.  None of the scopes you mentioned would be a problem they would all work for you some better than others.  I posted a scope above that I particularly enjoy along with a couple of top of the line mounts.  I really tend to think you need good illumination with hog hunting. Here is another scope that would work well.

Thanks for comments. I plan to use a bobro mount which I believe they make the same one for swfa. I like the trijicon. Problem is I'm not big on the triangle reticle. I also seem to see the red better but it is not offered in a cross hair. Any one have any input on the German #4 that is offered. I'm not just into leupold, I just think there fire dot is the best of both worlds. In all practicality the vxr line is probably more in my price rang. Anyone have input on the 1-4 or 2-7 with the fire dot 4?

Welcome to Optics Talk.

I have the VX-R 3-9x Fire Dot. I really like this scope and have it on a .223 bolt gun.
