Subject: Inexpensive Scope for Lever Action

I'm going to be in the market for a fixed or low magnification variable for use on a lever action. I want something that has decent low light capabilities at 150 yards or less and costs less than $200.
Any ideas?

I have a Weaver V-3 on my Mini 30. It is a nice clear scope and has a tremendous field of view for close up shots. Been very happy with it so far.

Thank you gentlemen.
Actually, this one looks pretty good. http://swfa.com/Vortex-175-5x32-Diamondback-Rifle-Scope-P10827.aspx - http://swfa.com/Vortex-175-5x32-Diamondback-Rifle-Scope-P10827.aspx

The 1.75-5 is a good one. Only reason I went with the 2-7 vs that one was the .25 difference on teh bottom end ain't much help, the extra 2X on the top does help sometimes and the objective size difference is negligable.

I agree with Graham. I have a 2-7x Monarch UCC on my .338 Federal BLR. Love it. If I were buying today, I'd probably go with the 2-7x diamondback that he suggested above.

I don't know if it's against the rules to mention this, so if it is and my post needs to be deleted, I won't be upset.
Cabelas has a line of Scopes called "Pine Ridge lever Action" that are meant for lever action rifles and are calibrated for specific LeverEvolution Cartridges.
I have one for my Marlin 1895G and it works just fine.
I can't really recall for certain what I paid for it, but i think it was around $100.
Obviously it's no long range sniper scope, but for what it IS, it seems like a perfectly valid option.
Here's the propaganda from the web site:
Hornady's innovative new LeverEvolution® ammunition is reviving interest in lever-action rifles around the world, and Cabela's is pleased to be able to equip these firearms with scopes specifically tailored for use with the new cartridges. These scopes are outfitted with Ballistic Glass Reticles specifically engineered for use with a particular Hornady LeverEvolution round. They're calibrated to compensate for bullet drop out to 300 yards and have an extra-long, 5-1/2" eye relief that facilitates mounting on traditional lever-action rifles. All you need to do is sight in the main reticle for 100 yards, and then use the 200- and 300-yard horizontal lines to hold dead-on at those ranges. Combining our scopes with LeverEvolution ammo turns your .30-30 Winchester, .444 Marlin, .308 Marlin, .35 Remington, .45-70 Govt., .338 Marlin, .44 Magnum or .45 Colt into a big-game rifle capable of efficiently harvesting game out to 300 yards with proper practice. The scopes are waterproof, shockproof and fogproof with high-quality, multicoated lenses and 1⁄4-MOA click-adjustments for windage and elevation. Superior optics give them superior light transmission and resolution. Tubes are rugged, 1" machined-aluminum.
Available for use with LeverEvolution ammunition in .45-70 Govt. (modern rifles only) using a 325-grain bullet, .444 Marlin using a 265-grain bullet, .30-30 Winchester using a 160-grain bullet, .308 Marlin using a 160-grain bullet, .35 Remington using a 200-grain bullet, .338 Marlin using a 200-grain bullet, .44 Magnum using a 225-grain bullet and .45 Colt using a 225-grain bullet.

I have 2 of these. One on a Ruger .44 Mag. and the other on a Marlin 336 in .35 Rem. Good eye relief and good FOV. The closer parallax setting is good for most lever actions IMO.

OK, I ignored all of you and went with the Burris Fullfield II, 2-7x35. I have two other Fullfields (4.5-14x42 AO and a 3-9x40) that have been decent scopes and Koshkin seemed to think it was alright. That and it was $30-40 less expensive than the Vortex.
Ordered from SWFA because of all the help you guys are here at Opticstalk and SWFA didn't disappoint!
I'll let you know what I think of it once I can get it out and shoot it.

That's a fine choice both in purchase and in the vendor you purchased from. It should serve you well. Enjoy it and take care of it and I'm sure it will work great.
