Hi all,

I recently bought a HW97k (FAC) and love it to death!
What I'm not equally fond of is the scope that I purchased with it... should have added a little more for something significantly better... oh well...

So, as I have understood, not all scopes (even the high-end ones) are suitable for springer air rifles but it seems really hard to find information on which can be used and which not.

I'm looking for the best possible scope roughly below USD 600 and it will be used mainly for short/midrange practice and rabbit/pigeon/squirrel hunting.

I'm thinking a 3-9 would be more then enough but perhaps a 4-16/5-20 would give that extra zoom to ensure a good hit?
What is better... an excellent 3-9 or a very good 4-16? What would be more important, quality of the optics (3-9) vs higher magnification (4-16/5-20)?

So, what would you recommend for me based on the above?

Thanks, Q

Quality of optics, quality of mechanicals, then magnification...

The 3-9x33 Leupold VX-2 EFR would be a great choice for your uses. The optics are nice and the scope is a proven performer. I have an older 3.5-10x50 EFR and it is a great scope.

+1 on the Leupold VX2 3-9 EFR. I too have an older VXII 3-9 EFR and would not give it up.
