I  would like to find a spotting scope that will allow me to clearly see my .22 cal holes at 100yds. I don't want to spend a lot for something I'll not use very often. I don't do that much .22 target shooting, and the larger calibres I can see with my rifle scope. Just looking for suggestions, Thanks

I'd spend the money on some "splatter" type targets. you should be able to see your hits through your rifle scope at 100yrds.  A $100.00 spotter is equivalent to $100.00 lump of coal IMHO.

In general I tend to agree though there are always exceptions. The least expensive spotter that I was satisfied with was the Celestron Ultima 65. They can be had for close to $100...sometimes up to $125. The image at low to mid magnifications is entirely acceptable. At the highest magnification settings it is a bit dim and does display notable chromatic aberration (color fringing).

Still, I would recommend it at that price point.

Thanks for the input. Yeah, I know about "bargain" optics.  I just want to be able to see the smaller caliber holes in plain white paper. I don't expect a great image at all powers, just enough to see my hits without having to lug my heavy barrel sako which has a 6.5-20x50 and feels like it weighs a ton.  :)

Anyone have any experience with "Bresser" products. I see some negative reviews on the bino's, but some very good ones on the spotting scopes. They have one around a hundred or so, and one around one fifty. I'm not in a hurry, I'll keep lookin and maybe save up enough for a "good one".
I appreciate the replies, the more the better.  Thanks,,,Gary

There is a 50 mm Bresser model I was looking at. It is rebadged as an Alpen and as a Visionking model. Body style reminds me of a miniature Swarovski in a sense. Haven't tried it yet myself but am considering it at some point.

Thanks Frank, the one that caught my eye was the Bresser Spekltar(sp). Read some good reviews.

The Spektar 60 mm was the one I was referring to in my post above. The Spektar 50 mm is another model rebadged under a variety of names including NC Star and Rokinon. I haven't tied either of them yet but they look interesting.

Yeah, the 15-45x60 swarovski look alike. I have seen some good reviews. If I was to get one from walmart it's easy enough to return, ship to store is free,,,maybe,,,. I'll wait and keep looking.  Thanks,  Gary
