I posted a thread here: http://www.opticstalk.com/what-kind-of-base-is-this-old-german-22lr-rifle_topic33156.html about finding a suitable mount for my 1930s Walther Model 1 rifle.

I'd like to put an old German scope on it, something that could have been found in Germany in the 1930s.

I'm having surprisingly bad luck finding such a thing for sale on eBay or Gunbroker. I'm new to the world of optics, though, so maybe there's a collectible scope vendor somewhere who could help?

What kinds of scopes should I be looking for to help my search? It sounds like I'd appreciate something like a Kahles Mignon, or maybe an old Hensoldt or Zeiss?

Are 80-year-old scopes pretty hard to find in general?

I'm new to scopes, and vintage ones seem like an even more arcane subset of the hobby, so any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Optics Talk.

Glad your here and posted your inquiry, but I would suggest you go over to Rimfire Central and ask the gang over there. Enormous resources and knowledge, my friend.

Here is a Zeiss Jena from 1920 mounted on a Marlin 39.

I have seen Zeiss Zielklein's before but quite awhile ago.  They would be neat.  2 1/2 power.

Maybe you'll have to spend some money and have a gunsmith make a mount for you.

Yeah, I wouldn't be completely opposed to making a custom mount if it comes to that.

I've been having enough problems just locating an original old scope!

The Zielklein and Jena look to be exactly what I'm wanting. I'll search for those and see if I can find anything.

If anyone else has an old 22lr scope to share, please do!

Well, I happened to find a Zielklein for sale on another forum, so I bought it! I wasn't turning them up on eBay or Gunbroker, even on completed auctions, so I have a feeling they're not things that come up for sale often. This one is in almost perfect shape, so I'm looking forward to it.

The trick now will be mounting it....Smile

I have a very old Zeiss Jena  Zielklein rifle scope, with internal elevation and external windage on rear mount, it is in very nice condition, I purchased it by mistake.
It has very fine cross hair and a very fine dot, if interested pull my chain, I can send picture and details. The leather cover says Zielklein also.
