I searched on here, but everything I came up with is related to bases and rings.

Just wanted to know how tight to torque my action screws on my Remington 700 in BC stock ?

Also wanted to know about my Winchester M70 in a Pillar bedded hogue stock... this one has the two piece bottom metal so the trigger guard is a different piece than the hinged floor plate, and it seems that I have read that the front trigger guard screw shouldn't be torqued, but just tightened, (might have read that on the OT ..... can't remember) I want to take all the margin for error out and get it to the same setting each time... right now I have the foremost screw and rear trigger guard screw torqued to 50 in lbs and the front trigger guard screw torqued to 35 in lbs, but have not been out to shoot it yet, and does not seem too tight to me.

I go about 50 in lbs on my B and C stock, though I just installed pillars in it.

65 in lbs always seems to be the standard reply when this question is asked, but that seems REALLY tight to me.

I always torque the front screw first, then the rear.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Thanks CT ...
Thought I had heard 65 in lbs before, but seemed pretty tight to me as well... tightening the front screw first is new to me, as I figured just bringing them up equally would be the ticket... will definitely give this a shot.

I start at 35 to each then move up in increments of 5 to each screw until I reach 50 on my remingtons and winchesters

I think I'll try 50 and work up to 65 next time i go out... having some problems with getting this remington to shoot consistent.... so might not be the best time to fool around with the torque settings.
