Mostly in the title, but here's the verbose version...
I've have a Fulton Armory-built Garand for over 20 years, but the aging eyes aren't doing too well with irons anymore. I'm sure I could hit minute of BG if I had to, but forget about comparing group sizes between loads & so forth. Time to scope her.
I have an FX-II 2.5x28mm Scout Scope on order with the Leupold custom shop.
I have a Garand scout mount on order from Ultimak. I put a red dot sight on my M1 Carbine with an Ultimak and it works very well, so I anticipate it works well on a Garand, too. In case you are unfamiliar with the product, these replace the hand guard and attach to the barrel of the rifle via clamps.
I want to use QD rings so I have the option to switch to irons. The scope has a 1"main tube, and the Ultimak is (I believe) an in-spec 1913 Picatinny rail.
Who makes high quality 1" QD Picatinny rings? I know with either Larue or ARMS I'd have to use 30mm rings with adapters. I'll go that way if I need to, but prefer to keep it simple and use 1" rings if I can get good ones.
