Alright guys, I didn't rrealize what a great price I got on buying a case and a half of new Federal 9mm 115gr FMJ!!! (17.9¢ rnd).  Now I'm looking for reloading components in 9mm.  Figured I go with Allient 'Power Pistol' power as thats what hornady recommends.  CCI primers and teh Federal brass.  That leaves the bullets.  I'm thinking of sticking with 115gr FMJ RN.  I've been shopping for a while now and am surprised at how expense just the bullets are.  Most all copper jacketed ones are over 10¢ a round!  Had I known that I would have bought more Federals!  Anyway, Can anybody recommend a jacketed RN 115Gr thats cheaper than 10¢ a round by the thousand?  So far the only current manufacturer I've found thats cheaper is Precision Delta Bullets followed by Montana Gold which are 10.1¢ a round.  montana Golds are backordered out to October!!!

I might consider plated bullets also if the price is right.

Please let me hear your pinions on different manufactures and cheap sources!
Also how you feel about jacketed versus plated bullets.

Thanks in advance guys!

You have to buy components in bulk and scrounge free brass to really bring the cost down.

Plated or coated bullets are way cheaper than jacketed and work just fine for me, even in polygonal rifled handguns (like glocks). Berry's are a popular plated bullet.

I have used berrys bullets for years for 9 .40, .45, .357, .45 colt.  They are excellent as long as you keep them under 1200 to 1300 fps.

You can usually find they cheaper at a reseller than direct from berrys as well.

I've seen the cast bullets going for as little as 6-7¢ a rnd.  Do i need to worry about lead fouling if I shoot cast bullets or palted ones for that matter?

Do any of you have any experience with Precision Delta jacketed bullets?  they are only 8.2¢ a rnd shipped free with order of 1000 or more.

Unfortunately I'll have to wait till I get home to check out all teh links...work has blocked any website listed as guns/ammo.

The caned heat are loaded rounds, I'm looking for bullets only. 22¢ ain't that great a price.  But the waterproof packaging is NICE!

I'm seeing local sales for loaded 9mm at ~15 to 19¢ a round in 50 rnd boxes.

I't is barely cost effecetive to reload 9mm it seems.

Hence why i don't.  My time is worth more than a few cents a round savings I would have by reloading.

berry bullets are great. plating is thinner than jackets, and although  the lead is harder, expansion is pretty good, and surprising in 9,40 and 45. they also have them available with a recess in the bottom of the base, which allows the bullet to me made longer and still have the same wt.
not sure why you have ruled out cast lead. which can be driven to 1100 fps easily with leading. At 52.00 per k, and 33 for primers, a little powder puts it closer at 8.5 cents a pop.

You gotta go bulk. I just did the math and even at today's prices I am just less than 5 bucks for a box of 50 9mm. That's with a coated bullet and free brass.

38 special would be even cheaper because of the teeny weeny charge of bullseye and a cast bullet. A keg of bullseye goes a long ways.

Well I went ahead and pulled the trigger on 1000 115gr FMJ 9mm bullets from Precision Delta.  After spending almost a week I couldn't find a better price for jacketed bullets anywhere!  I goofed when I placed the order cause their website said minimum order for free shipping was 2000 rnds.  I realised it 2 days after I placed teh order and emailed them in an attempt to change teh order only to find out that they had already shipped my order!!!  I figured... there goes the 8.2¢ a rnd price cause I'd get nailed for shipping.  I was pleasantly surprised to find them waiting for me today when I got home.  I quickly pulled off the invoice fearing the ineviable.  I again was pleasantly surprised to see trhat I was only charge $5.00 for shipping the 1000 rnds so I end price went from 8.2 to 8.7¢ a rnd.

I tried to find some berry bullets in the 5¢ range like Dale suggested but couldn't find any below 7+¢ a rnd and I opted for a full copper jacket over thin plating for less than 1¢ more a round.
The Precision Delta bullets look great.  Proof will be in the pudding after I load a few.

Advise to go bulk or go home is spot on.
Visit local indoor ranges and check on buying brass 5K, 10K at a time.
My last score was 10K at $10.00 per thousand.

Reloading the 9mm.  Primary reason for me is to get real ammunition.
Original stuff was 124 grain fmj at 1250fps from a 4.25 inch barrel.
Stuff you buy now is great target fodder but more like weak .38 special in performance.

Any way you go, any time shooting is a good time!

I'm lucky in that my sportsman club has range buckets and everyone that doesn't save their brass puts their empties in the buckets.  I've already pulled out over 200 9mm casings as well as nickel plated 308 and 300WM and 45ACP casings.  Yippee

Since I already have about 2500 9mm rounds to deal with I think I'm in a pretty good position to slowing acquire more for free. Hippie

Having 3 9mm pistols and now seriously considering getting a 9mm upper for my AR I'm gonna NEED to reload to feed my habit...

The lead bullets I suggested are sometimes stocked by local gun stores. They are used by the tons (literally) by steel shooters. The best place to find a source is by talking to them, or make a post on Brianenos.com and ask the question if anyone in your area knows etc. etc. You will be surprised. If the gun is being used by shooters making 9mm major then plated are used, do to the sensitive set of the guns.

They are out there, berry's cast bullets run a bit high while his plated runs low per market. Penn. has a serious steel shooting problem, so I know they have them. Ask on enos. I pay 4.3  cents, in 10 k amts. and pick up from the maker.
