Here is a blown up image of the scope from a print ad.  Does that obj cover look a little Premier-ish???

I called Trijicon today and the lady said these are $3890... or $3090 msrp. I couldn't quite hear it correctly but lost track after $3k. Even with a mil discount its probably well into the $2500 range I would guess.

At this price point a Premier or S&B would be nice. Yippee

You need to actually see one before you dismiss it and conclude that Premier or SB is superior at its price point.

$3500-$3600 MAP

I'm not saying S&B and Premier are superior. Just noting that this optic is in a price range where there are some great products already. I would love to have one, maybe one day..

I will be interested in ILya's first impressions.

I have not seen the Trijicon or touched one, but with Premier and Hensoldt in hand, I'm interested in what might be improved.

Zombie Thread!

Is there a single online review of this scope?

The only online article which seemed to feature it was by this guy trying out an L.W.R.C. R.E.P.R. (I really despise all these milspeak acronyms - is this supposed to be cool or something?).

Not seeing anything about these, online or in the real world.

But, I can say 2 new players have emerged (since this thread began) in the tactical scope game: Steiner and Kahles have both released scopes that compete quite nicely with the top end stuff.

Found it.

Only mentions attaching it to the rifle in passing, nothing more.

Be advised, Guns and Ammo's opinion of optics and rifles is about as important to me as Iran's opinion of global peace and harmony.

When I saw Craig Boddington praising a Counter Sniper, arguably the biggest joke in tactical optics to ever be, I cancelled my subscription and vowed to never again read their venal lies.

This is NOT a testament to the Trijicon scope, just the jokers who handled one.

Carry on.

+2.  I think the 47ozs will be the downfall of the Trijicon,no matter how good it's made.

To tell you the truth, I haven't found a single firearm - related publication here in the U.S. that I've liked; prior to all of this, most of my reading was from British hardbacks.

I'm not being unpatriotic or anything - it's just that the disparity in quality and content are staggering.

I hope I'm not being offensive or anything - but whenever I sample one of the many firearm - related magazines on the shelves at WalMart, this excerpt from a post in a different Forum keeps repeating itself in my head...

"They didn't have a separate section discussing how to heighten one's situational awareness and maximize tactical advantage of one's CCW and various force - multiplying paraphernalia stowed in bug - out bags to totally dominate the situation!

Moreover, it portrays cubbie workers as frantic sheeple neither facile nor gung - ho enough in adapting to, overcoming, and neutralizing the immediate threat by securing the high ground - a threat that could, if left to run unfettered, eventually turn on their families and loved ones!
"

The gestalt and overall mentality embodied in that post, for some reason, seems to ooze into most magazines that I end up looking at - can't really explain it.

Two things to remember:

1.  Everyone is awesome on the internet.

2.  Magazines that sell ad space cannot be truly objective about the products they review.

Proceed accordingly.

It's not about the bias, either - that I could deal with.

It's the content, and quality of writing.

Not a single one seems to be in the same class of work as authors such as Christopher Bishop, Ian Drury - who are from the other side of the pond.

I think Trijicon ought to send me one to demo  at least, since I told called their engineers and talked to them when the TR23 came out and told them what they needed to change to make it a viable tactical optic.  Oh well another one out of my price range now.
