I really like the optics of the Meostars.  But, I have very little use for a 30mm tube.  Thus, I would probably take a 1" Nkon.  If Meopta made a 1" line of Meostars, I would certainly give them a try.

Ranburr,
Meostar is a model of Meopta and they have 30mm tube. They have the 2000 and 3000 models also.
I think only a few inside those models have 1'' tube.
For me there is no problem with the tube diametre because  this caracteristic d'ont have any influence on optical quality.
Here in Portugal the Nikon rifle scopes are unknown  but the brand have a very good reputation in photo cameras.

The message that I was trying to get across was that the only Meopta that I would consider would be a Meostar.  And I should have also stated that the only Nikon that I realy like if the Monarch.

I remember that you like wild boar hunting by moonlight, in my opinion you should chose Nikon (Monarch) because of better glass (lenses) Japanese know how to produce high quality products. We have a lot of meopta products in our shops but our hunters are still looking for something with more light transmission and with a good image or old tradition. Before we  had the only choice between Russian, Polish and German  optic, and most of us used a Carl Zeiss Jena optic (now Docter) not Czech because they start with riflescopes less than 20 years ago.

Last week I got a new Bushnell Elite 4200 2,5-10 x 50 with fire fly reticle from USA  (made in Japan) Iíll use it in two weeks on my 30-06 Mauser. I hope it will be much better than old Carl  Zeiss Jena  6x42. By the way we have the same crazy prices for optics like you in Portugal, they just multiplied American prices by 2 or 3.

Nikon Monarch & Monarch Gold both have 95% Light Transmission. The Monarchs have 1" tubes and the Monarch Golds have 30mm tubes. I like the Monarch Gold better than the Monarchs because they have a 4 fold power change range where as the Monarchs have only a 3 fold power range change. You get 2.5-10 instead of 3.3-10. There is a lot more MOA adjustment in the Golds too.
