Any reviews of the Vortex Viper HS, specifically the 4-16x50LR?  How does it compare to a Nikon Monarch Gold?  I am thinking about replacing my Nikon Monarch Gold with something that has target turrets for hunting and shooting out to 600 yds.  Love the glass on the Nikon Monarch Gold but don't want to deal with Kentucky windage and no one makes custom turrets for it.

Suggest you go to the Super Sniper 5-20x50 the non illuminated version is supposed to go on sale on Black Friday.  As for the Viper HS long range its an Ok scope but I like the Super Sniper way better.
if price is a factor this should be a nice scope for the money:

I am going to use this for hunting where I might end up having to take a quick shot at close range also and don't want the low end of the power range to be above 4x.  Really wanting something in the 4-16 range.  Why is the elevation knob adjustment on the Viper 1/2 moa per click?  Why not 1/4?

My budget is in the $500 range.  Also thinking about Sightron Big Sky 4-16x42 with target knobs.

In all reality, I am not going to be taking too many 600 yd shots.  The range near my house goes out to 400yds.  I am going to try and go on an antelope hunt next year and 400yds seems like a good range to practice at.  The reason I say 600 is because there is a reasonably priced shooting school that I am considering going to that has a 600 yd range and I don't want to be under powered so 4-16 seems like a good choice.  I also have access to a 3-12x42 sightron big sky which I could get custom turrets for but was not sure it would be powerful enough for 600yds.

So I take it that the Viper HS's aren't worth the hipe they got when they first came out?

The Viper HS is a decent scope but there are other scopes I like better like the Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x50 with fiber optic and tritium illumination.
