I am terrible at scoring whitetail, not that the score really matters, but I am curious as to what you think this one might score. I know he isn't huge. His body is massive for whitetail in this area. 200+ lbs dressed easy I think. This is my first big game kill for the year. Biggest whitetail I have ever shot too.

Wow! Nice one. Is that out in the area where you're working? We may not have the monsters like they do in Saskatchewan but that is a good one in my book. I haven't the slightest idea how to score one but just know you'll get a lot of good eating out of that buck.

I shot this guy around Lewistown. Up on the land of the outfitter I used to work for. My dad and I go up there every year, usually doe hunting, but I have permission to shoot anything I have a tag for. First time I have shot a buck. There were three in the group, and one other one was as big as this one. Sadly, I missed the shot on the black bear I saw up there. He was really steep down hill, running from me, and I think I shot right over the top of him. Oh well, next time. I was a bit bummed about that till I saw this deer. Had to take him in my mind.
Jon, we took a little 0000 steel wool to it. Took the shine away. I think it turned out great.

Wow! Very nice whitetail Helo!
My dad harvested a buck VERY similar to yours a few years back. His scored 126 although i think your buck has a slighly better spread, side to side.
I'd say roughly a 130 for your buck. Nice shooting, congrats

Well done Andrew. Heavy bodied good looking buck and you can't eat antlers anyway. Still a very good looking symmetrical rack. Will look very nice on a wall.

Thats a really nice buck Helo, almost perfect in symmetry. I'd also say he goes in the 130's and is a pretty decent trophy in my view.

Beautiful animal... Bigger than almost anything around my area... there are a few near that size, but they are nocturnal and skittish. Almost never see them. Can sometimes capture one on a gamecam, but they are wise to those as well. Antler stew sucks...

Thanks for the kind words. I am still pumped about getting him.
He is the biggest whitetail I have shot and the biggest body I have shot. I think he may be bigger than any mule deer I have shot in the body department. He is bigger than usual for the area but they had a lot of good green grass for most of the summer, so that helped.

I was first going to say 125, but he should score well for mass, and is very symmetrical. Being so even, and heavy, I'd say he'd go 130. I score by pope & young standards. Don't know how Boone & Crockett scoring is done, so I can't say how he'd score on their scoring, or if they score them the same way.
Either way, he's a nice buck, and you should be round.

I think mid 120's but it's hard to say. The bigger bodied deer always fool me.
