Best Multipurpose Scopes or Hunting, Tactical, Low Light

The Kahles CSX 3-12x56mm W/ Illuminated #4 Dot and Multizero technology might be the best multipurpose low light hunting optic I have ever seen. Due to my job I have the opportunity to use and test the best optics in the world. The Kahles CSX 3-12x56mm with Multizero Technology is as good as it gets. IMHO the #4 is the fastest shooting reticle. Add the Illuminated dot and you have a super fast, precise, unobstructed sight picture at all light levels.

The Multizero feature that Kahles patented is a brilliant system. I really think it does not get the recognition and praise it deserves. The only reason I can think of is Kahles didn’t have a presence in the US around the same time the multizero technology came to be.

The Multizero feature allows you to hold the reticle on point of intended impact without having to use holdover at various distances. That is critical when you’re in a tree stand in low light, -5 degrees and you heat up quick with buck fever. You see a buck off in the distance 300 to 400 yards moving between trees. Hunters you know what I am talking about as you watch your heartbeat in the reticle and you think I don't have a shot (an ethical shot) hopefully he will move closer and stop somewhat broadside. Then you lose him in a blink of an eye never to be seen again. It's over in 2 seconds. The low light conditions with a black reticle is hard to see much less trying to hold over with a part of your reticle that is not intended to be the primary focal point.

This is why my big game scopes are Multizero Kahles and I successfully make these shots now (knock on wood). This rifle scope provides 540 nanometers maximizing light transmission for the ultimate low light performance. However, with a scope of this quality it’s just as good when the sun is bright. I was equally impressed with the multicoated lenses not allowing a glaring effect on the eyepiece when the sun is behind you as it rises or sets. Especially during the late fall into winter when the sun tracks at those lower angles when it is rising or falling. It is common for me to see optics pick up some glare in the eye piece. During testing and in field use this optic maintained a sharp crisp sight picture at all power levels from 3 to 12 and everything in between. The illuminated dot stays visible and clear with an astonishing sharp well defined reticle.
