I've owned several Remington 700's and still have a couple, but I don't have any experience with the Remington Model 7. Now I am looking at a model 7 stainless: Could I please get some opinions by experienced owners?

I have a model 7 in 7-08.  It is my go-to backpacking gun.

It shot OK out of the box, but groups were tough to come by with that willow-whip thin 20 inch barrel.  I had my smith set it up with a Douglas barrel, a little thicker contour, and 22 inches.  It is still pretty darn light and looks great with a Vortex Viper 2-7X32 mounted on top.

The action and magazine are extra-short, so seating bullets out a long ways ain't gonna happen, unless you want to feed them one by one.

The laminated stock mine came with is actually pretty nice.

I have a 308 stainless myself , topped with a Leupy 2.5-8 , which is a great fit. Of late, my daughter has adopted it as her rifle , and she loves it . It shoots moa with 150 gr factory Hornady rounds . I sent the stock to bell and Carlson , and they put an olive with black spiderweb finish topped with their clear coating .Also had some trigger work done ( smooth 3.5 lb pull ) .. I can recommend the little sevens ..

I have one in .260. It is a great woods rifle. It carries easy all day long and is accurate.
