Today is the anniversary of the Challenger Shuttle Explosion.  I can't imagine what it would have been like to really know what was happening that day.  I think it was a bigger deal then than shuttle launches are now. I was only 2 at the time but I'm sure some of you remember that day vividly.  Thoughts are with all the familys that where left behind that day.

I was outside working on a truck and saw it as it was happening (from about 15 miles away from the Cape). Very upsetting to say the least. Hope their souls RIP.

I also remember when it happened, but the one that really sticks in my mind, is when Hinckley shot Reagan, I was in the 8th grade.

Back when the Challenger explosion happened, I was living in Woomera, South Australia which at that time was a military town due to it being close to the Narrungar Tracking Station which was manned by the U.S. and Australian military. My dad was in the Royal Australian Air Force and was working in the tracking station and most of my class were children of U.S. servicemen so it affected everyone there.

Also, I was watching 9/11 as it happened as I was watching the late night news (us Aussies being 14 odd hours ahead you Yanks) when the TV station switched over to the coverage. To me that was the biggest news story of my lifetime (i'm 32).

I skipped school that day, for whatever reason, I was a Junior in highschool. I can remember watching the launch, again for whatever reason and could not believe what I just witnessed. I remember it like it was yesterday.

I was watching it live in science as a freshman in High School. It was definitely a shocking experience.
