Is the Kahles better or worse and why?

Which would you buy and why?

Compare apples to apples ( all 30mm )

Which reticle do you prefer and why?

Kahles advertises 99.7% transmission per lense surface!

Kahles also states they use true 30mm internal lenses.

Is the Kahles reticle etched glass or is it wire / wafer like the Saworvski Ph..?

I have been told that Ziess supplies Saworvski and Kahles with the same glass used in the V/VM series scopes. Is this true?

I would rate them in the following order:  Swarovski, Zeiss, Kahles, Docter.  I have no personal experience with Docter, but I have a close friend who raves about them and Chris says that they are at least as good as Kahles (binos anyhow).  I prefer a heavy duplex for big game situations (very good contrast and works well in low light), German #4 for varmint hunting (most of the benefits of hvy duplex yet fine upper of reticle allows me to still see game that a hvy duplex would block out)and a #1 for dangerous game (it is fast and works well in various levels of light).  Those are my preferences and work well for my eyes, you may feel different.  It sounds like you want the Kahles and you would not be going wrong there, but it is not the equal of Swarovski.  The 99.7% lense transmission is a little misleading.  Remember there is more than one lense and you will be losing through each one (Swarovski used to have a very good explanation of light transmission on their website, it may still be there).  From what I know Kahles does use a true 30mm lense system, I think that all the euro makers use true 30mm set-ups.  I think the Kahles uses etched glass, but double check on their website.  Zeiss or rather Schott Glass Works does supply a lot of glass to various optical companies, but I am pretty sure that Swarovski makes their own and I assume Kahles buys from Swaro.  Back to the reticles for a moment, many people are raving about these TDS reticles and you may want to give them a try.  I am not interested in the TDS because it seems somewhat cluttered to my eyes.  Then again I won't shoot much further than 300-350 yards max and I prefer shots inside of 150 yards.  I will try longer shots on varmints, but the TDS would really get messy when trying to make a long shot on something as small as say a prarie dog.  That is my view, but a lot of knowledgeable people are swearing by this system.  I think you will be happy with any scope that you have mentioned here.
