Okay well i know nothing about customizing rifles at all, but ive been looking and thinking about putting a new stock on my Savage model 16 300 WSM. I came across boyd stocks and i found one that i like. It says that the stock is finished, does that mean that once i get it i can just put my action into the stock, bolt it down and its done?

According to that link, it is a 100% drop in fit.  You should be able to just drop your action in, tighten it down, and then go sight it in. Although, you say you have a model 16, not a model 10 like the stock, so you would want to check on that fit.

ive read that the model 10 and 16 are the same. and would the fact that the calaber is a WSM affect it?

The Model 10 is a short action.  The 16 from what that website says is the same action.  It should measure, 7 1/4 inches between the two outer screws and 4.275 inches between the front too.  If you measure your gun, and get those measurements, that model 10 is what you need.  The WSM is a short action, so it should be that stock.

It also depends on which Model 16 you have. If it's a model with the accu-trigger, the action bolts are 4.41" apart.

HELL YEAH! I was going to get a standard left hand Mark II with a plastic stock but noticed that there was a Mark II on the rack at the gun shop with the thumbhole stock (BTVS). I had a good look at it and decided then and there to spend a bit more ($200 Aus?) and get one with the Boyds thumbhole stock. Proud owner of a Mark II BTVLSS.

Plus, Savage has a number of rifles with Boyds stocks on them.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with putting a black scope on a stainless gun as i've currently got a black scope on my Mark II BTVLSS (Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40) which is about to be replaced with a (black) Weaver Classic Rimfire 4x28. But I think what looks dorky is a black scope, mounted on a stainless rifle, using stainless rings...

The "Rifle Scope" section is probably the best place to ask that question. Just make sure you give as much information as possible such as:

* What the rifle is going to be used for? (hunting, target shooting etc)
* What range? (50m, 100m, 200m, 500m+ etc)
* How often do you use the rifle? (once a year, twice yearly, once a month, once a week etc)
* Calibre of rifle? (300WSM)
* Type of rifle (hunting, varmint etc)

and finally...

* Whats your budget? (be prepared to pay a bit more than your budget!) Big Grin

If the rifle gets used fairly regularly i'd suggest getting a good mid-range scope that has good glass such as a Bushnell Elite 4200, Zeiss Conquest or a Weaver Grand Slams. Thunbs Up

yeah im thinking about going with a zeiss 3-9x i would get the silver one but i cant convince myself to pay an extra 100 just for the silver. but for deer hunting in PA shots from 30-400 yards it should do the job perfectly
