Could anyone explain to me why a 3.5-10x50 with a 1'' tube would have a larger FOV than a 3-12x56 with a 30mm tube? Both are ziess conquest scopes and this is according to manuals.

Thanks

Field of view, eye relief, and magnification are all connected. You can't change one without changing something else. The 3.5-10x50 only has 3.34" of eye relief, the 3-12x56 has 3.5", making the field of view a bit smaller. Also, at 12x the field of view will be smaller than the 3.5-10 at 10x, because as the magnification goes up, field of vision goes down. I would guess that if you put both scopes on 10x, the FOV would be pretty similar.
