I have a Kahles CL 3-9x42 MZ scope and it has persistent parallax that I can't eliminate. The reticle is properly focused and I am keeping that constant. Adjusting the parallax dial according to distance of target reduces but does not remove the parallax- a tiny lateral movement of my eye causes a large change in point of focus. I have a Zeiss conquest 4.5-14 and the parallax adjustment on that scope is dramatically different- it nearly completely eliminates parallax. I just switched the scopes on the gun and it makes a huge difference in precision at all distances especially long ranges (600yd). I don't want to have to send the scope to Austria after some of what I've read (http://www.opticstalk.com/rear-focus-scope-butler-creek-flip-ups_topic11985_page2.html). Has anybody seen this issue with this scope?
thx

I think so, but before I try to send it back I'd like to get some idea of how much parallax is expected assuming the scope is adjusted correctly. Moving my eye across the objective moves the crosshairs about 2 moa, that seems like too much slop...

I am assuming you are setting it on a predetermined distance such as  100 yds to target and moving the parallax dial to a setting at 100.

Try this do not look at the markings on the parallax knob just slowly turn the knob until parallax is insignificant. your knob markings might not be right.

I worked out the problem, the reticle focus was off, when I carefully reset it the parallax went away. It was a good lesson for me on the importance of getting the image plane and reticle aligned anyway and being careful with progressive lenses in my glasses.

I ignore parallax markings on the adjustment knobs of my scopes.  My SS scopes are precise in their parallax correction, but they are way off from the range marks on the adjustment ring!

You can go to the Swarovski site if you have a TDS reticle in your Kahles and they will compute drop in 100 yard increments for your bullet (with its BC) for each level of crosswire.  The Swarovski TDS reticle first came out in the Kahles scope line while Swarovski owned Kahles in 2002.

Good thing that you picked up on focusing your scope.  Kahles scopes are usually first class optics.
