So I got one of these for my Winchester Model 70 Long Action and mounted it up...turns out the screws for the rear mounting holes were a tad bit long and were turned into my brand new cerakote job on my bolt.... might be standard procedure to take the bolt out and check things like this, but I did not think about it until after the fact... (just happy I checked before mounting the scope)after a quick job with the dremil tool all is well other than the two round marks on my bolt.....just thought I would give a heads up to anyone who might be mounting there own bases and not know any better. Oh ya it was the HD model.

EGW HD bases are .100'' lower than their regular bases. Apparently the same length screws are supplied with both bases.
I always pull the bolt when I mount bases, but I don't have a reason as to why I do. I also always run a tap through all holes before I start any screws. Again, I don't have a real reason as to why I do this. Must be because of my machining background.
But I will keep your results on my mind for future reference.
I just finished mounting one of their HD base on my Rem 1100. The receiver is thin on the top, so I had to shorten 2 of the supplied screws.
