i have a ruger mk II varmint in .243  and i just ordered a vortex viper 6.5-20 with the v plex
two questions. 
1.  Does anybody but ruger make 30 mm rings wor this gun
2.  Does anybody make a 20 moa rail for these

i know warne makes a 30mm ring for your application, as for the rail im not sure.

I doubt highly you'll need the rail for your .243.  Let me check.

OK - I just released a new iPad program just for this kind of question.  Consider this one "on the house"!
 
I made assumptions on your bullet weight (nice varmint bullet) and speed.  Note the flat base and your scope still has 947 yards of usable adjustment.  At that range your only getting 87 ft lbs of energy!

Here are your results from Terminal Velocity. Your selections were: Caliber - .243 Wincheser, Bullet - Hornady 58 grns, VMAX, BC: 0.250, Velocity - 3500 fps, Base - Flat Base, Scope - Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 PA, Zero - 200 Yards, Temperature - 50 Degrees, Elevation - 1500 Feet

jeff thank you for the info i will have to look at the app one i get my I pad.  for bullet weight I was thinking more about the 105 burger vld or the 115 gr d-tac for beginner 1000 yd bench. thanks again for the info and any other thoughts
