I am pretty sure that all Vortex scopes are etched reticles. I have no personal experience with them, but they have the best Customer Service going right now! Scott @ Vortex and Sam @ Vortex are both members here, I would P.M. any questions to them.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I have a crossfire on a 5.56 that has held up to over 200 rounds.  no issues at all.  Thats their base line so take that for what is worth.  They do recoil test all models on big bores though, 50's, 338LM so I think your good to go.

They are glass etched reticles.

Just seen where i seen WIRE it was on the Vortex site  under the reticle description

V-Plex Wide Reticle

This is a general purpose reticle with a wider mid-section of fine wire for less target obstruction. Good for general hunting, target, and varmint applications.

Target Dot Reticle

This reticle uses fine wires and a small central dot for the aiming point. Good for the target and varmint shooter under fairly well-lit conditions.

I have 3 Vortex Scopes 6.5-20x50 viper 6.5-20x40 viper and just mounted a 6-24x50 crossfire the vipers are on a Tikka t-3 lite and a savage .17 hmr, the crossfire is on a savage .223, the vipers are spot on the best scope for the money, I compared them one late evening to a Leupold VX3 and VXIII and all lost the deer at the same time,
(it was getting real dark).  The crossfire is a great scope for the money and the only problem I have had is the turretts are changing with each shot, only put about 100 rounds through it and will have to send it back to see what I did to it.  I would not hesitate to buy another one.  The Vortex spotting scope I use is great, use it to see .223 @ 200yrds.

I know its 1MOA if it doesn't tighten up then I will have to get rid of it!!!!

I have been using a Leupy 4-12x40 for awhile now, and I think that the Vortex Vipers are nipping at the heals as competition.

I have never had any issues with it shifting before. But I would gather that the issue of scope mounts in conjunction with the actual scope are a major factor. Does Vortex recommend anything specific in terms of rings vs. ring mounts?

What do you use K1? Anybody have more info on the PST 4-16x50?

The PST  4-16x50 is a nice scope however it felt a little light to me for a true tactical scope. vortex has a first rate warranty. If you plan to hunt it or target shoot it the PST should be a fine choice. I just wasnt comfortable with it for a sniper scope so I went with a Trijicon Accupoint 5-20x50 and I have a Super Sniper 5-20x50 on order. With Super Sniper I know that I am getting a tough scope.

Thanks for that info... Trijicon IMO is on a higher plane of existence - so too the price. I would love to own one of those one day ;-)
