Hey all,
first off I looked around a bit trying to find good (objective) reviews on binocs and its hard to come by so I am glad to find this site. I also searched this site hoping to find my inquiry but none quite matched it... So I am in the market for a nice set of general purpose binocs. I hike, kayak and fish and want  them for wildlife observation (birds bears deer etc).
What I need most is a good value. I dont have much to spend and I am not seasoned enough to justify anything over $100. I would like to be in the $ range of 60-80 but my max would be $100. Second priority would be versatility, I am looking at birds and wildlife and I am doing it on land and in water. And last but not least I would like to be compact. Size can be sacrificed for good quality optics, but kayaks and packs are tight on space so smaller is helpful.
So any help/direction is greatly appreciated. Also want to throw out there that I dabble in photography and some vintage optics really can produce outstanding results, so I am not limited to new binocs, if a vintage set fits my request I will search it out.
Thanks in advance
Sam
