I will (eventually be building a 16" AR15 for general purpose) I want to get a scope that will let me do some shootin’ for groups between 100-300 yds. But that would also be a good scope for close in, maybe doing 3-gun stuff. A do-everything scope. As if that were not a tall enough orderLoco, I’m finicky about a scope that has very little eye relief shift between variable magnifications. I’d like to keep the scope cost under $500 (sorry, no Nightforce, S&B, or Swarovski for me). I’ve been told by a few that the best for what I’m looking for would be an Accupoint TR24 1-4x w/ a German #4. They say that the dot is small enough for semi-precise work, but helpful for quick work close in. Pricey, but I may have to save if that’s best for my wants.

Other than the TR24, I'm also considering:
Burris XTR 1-4x
Nikon Monarch Gold 1.5-6x42 (yeah, it's a big objective)
Bushnell Elite 4200 1.24-4
Sightron Big Sky II 1.25-5

I got a chance to look through an Accupoint TR21.  It has many different specifications than the TR24 (1" tube, longer eye relief, etc.)  It was OK.  Little fuzzy around the edges.  Is the TR24 better glass?
I took a peak through a Bushnell 4200 scope (not the 1.25-4) and I thought it had better glass than the TR21.Say What

I don't know exactly where it will fall price-wise, but the Super Sniper 1-4X24HD will be available fairly soon and would accomplish what you want very well:
