I am debating on two different scopes. The Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10X44 or the Leupold VX-3 4.5-14X40LR (30mm tube). I will be using the rifle to hunt deer at any range out to probably 600 yards. If anybody has any experience with either of these I would appreciate some input.

Welcome to Optics Talk.

I had the Conquest and shot the Leupold, but with the 1" tube.
I liked both scopes, but would take the Conquest.

I would take the Zeiss over the Leupold

I was leaning toward the Zeiss. Have you guys got to use the rapid-Z 600 reticle? I'm interested in getting that reticle but I don't want it to be too thick. I bought a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14 with the BDC recticle about a year ago and I thought that was too thick.

I went through pretty much the same decision as you. I ended up with a Conquest 4.5-14x44 with the Rapid-Z800. The reticle is great for hunting, not too thick, and still visible in low light. The reticle is always very black and distinct. The aiming point is much more precise vs. a Nikon BDC that I have. Just remember, as with any second focal plane BDC reticle, that the marks for yardage will only be true on 1 magnification. You may want to look up your load on Zeiss's calculator to see what that magification is.
