Glad to be back on OT.

I'm rescoping my beloved Rem. VSLH .308 and can't seem to decide between these two GREAT scopes. Help!!

My shooting consists of mostly bench rest out to 300-400 yards. Occasional varmint shooting off a Harris bipod.

Thinking mil dot, but a mildot reticle in a second focal plane scope is almost not worth the trouble.

Nikons and Zeiss's duplex reticles are both good to go for my type of shooting.

(I have used both.)

Zeiss's ZRF reticle looks interesting, but not nessasary for my shooting needs.

(I haven't looked through one.)

Target knobs on both appear to be good to go as well.

The Nikon may be the beefier of the 2, while the Conquest "might" have the edge on optical superiority.

I'm a "clicker", and not much of a hold over type shooter. Target knobs are a must for me.

Side focus on both models seem to be nice. Not much lash reported by shooters.

I like the fixed 4" eye relief on the Conquest I had.

The Nikon Tactical is close behind, and while shooting a low recoil rifle like my .308, I'm quite sure the eye relief,(3.5?) would be more than enough on the Tactical.

So....What say you??? Get both?!?!?

Again, been through a lot of changes in the last few months. Good to be back in the loop here on OT.

which conquest are you looking at? I have a 30mm Nikon Tactical mil-dot 2.5x10 illimitated on a 308, it is an great scope, I have no complaints. The turrent knobs are very presice and very repeatable. Also very bright in low light, can use in near dark.

This is the one.

Thanks for the response and I'm glad your Nikon suits you. I'm interested in the 4-16x50mm Tactical version. I like the added magnifacation.

"I'm a "clicker", and not much of a hold over type shooter. Target knobs are a must for me"

I definitely wouldn't get the ZRF reticle then. You would still be guessing. It's just a feature for a quick gauge of an imprecise range.

The only thing the Nikon has over the Zeiss is it's 30mm tube. With the distance your shooting you wouldn't even need it. I say get the Zeiss and don't look back.

Appreciate the advise.

The Conquest will work out, even with the 1" tube.

I have a Badger Ord. 20 moa rail that's on my rifle now so the lack of elevation in the Conquest won't hinder me.
