I have both the 4.5-14x40 APV and the 3-10x44 Tac II. The APV is "kinda adequate" for under 200 yard bench shooting during daylight hours (.223). I have only used it at the range in decent wx conditions so I can't attest to its low light or knocked-around-in-the-field performance.

The Tac II is significantly better all around. It's a Japanese product and its performance reflects it. My only complaint about it is that 10x sometimes isn't enough for me, and I'm considering something like a Weaver GS/BS or Nikon Monarch with higher magnification

Weaver GS/BS . . .

Don't know what I was thinking. I meant Weaver Grand Slam.
