What is the not break the bank range? More or less whats the most you want to spend so we can recommend up to that and some under that we feel are adequate.

I have had good sucess for a very few dollars with REDFIELD's AURORA which is a JAPANESE lense that is superb 27-80x and just fantastic very durable rugged and bright... of course some purplish blacks at 70-80x but hey if my hole(s) looks purple and not black so-be-it also I am not trying to see the exact colors more the shapes of targets... $300-500 and worth every penny...

Maybe look at the PENTAX 80ED also very affordable but might break the bank $800-1000 but again worth every penny...

Look on the Sample List for top say  Nikon, Pentax then upper end say Minox, Zeiss, Swarvoski, Leica, Kowa...

try for an ED model if you can afford it...you will be very happy you did...
