Has anyone had a chance to look at the Brunton Eterna binoculars? Would like to hear some feedback & opinions on them.

My neighbor has a pair of the Eterna's (complete with what has become a rather 'smelly' sock to wrap them in).  I used them a couple weekends ago when he wanted to borrow my Nikon 8x20's.

They're a pretty good binocular that really excelled at dusk.  Their coatings seemed to pick up extra light in the shadows along the wood line at the back of my property.  They were fairly lightweight and easy to use, but that sock would have to go--Brunton sells them with their own sling and, to me, it just gets in the way.  Your exhalations get caught up in the sock and it begins to smell like old sweat pretty quickly.

The focus ring on his pair was pretty stiff but other than that, they seemed very serviceable and would serve as a good hunting binocular.  I liked them better than a Monarch or a Legend roof, but not as much as my Kahles.

I'd rate them close to Pentax DCF's but not as good at color rendition.

Just my two cents...
