How does the German Optical Co. Opticron?  How do their binos compare to the other top end products?  Are they similar quality wise to Docter, Minox and Kahles?

It is my understanding that Opticron is a UK company that brand labels a lot of Aisian optics.  Primarily chinese stuff.  I have only seen the low-end stuff and it was crap.  I know that they do have some higher end stuff that birders apperently like.  I would take any one of the three above mentioned brands before I would get the Opticron.

As far as I knew, Opticron has always been a re-marketer of Japanese, Taiwanese, and Chinese binoculars.  I didn't know that they had a European made line available to them.

As a looooong time birder, I can say that I've never read a review of an Opticron binocular that stated they were better than whatever binocular they were being compared to.  And I read a lot of reviews.

Where I have seen them come up and get okay reviews is on the astronomy pages like "Cloudy Nights" and the like.  Opticron usually comes across as a poor-man's Celestron in the bigger sizes that the star gazers seem to like.

Just my two cents...
