Are the Minox the same height as the Monarchs?

The Minox are ~ 5"
The Nikons are ~ 7"

Are you asking which one you should choose?

I am curious. I have never heard of the Nikon DCF HP. There is a Nikon Monarch ATB and a Pentax DCF SP. The price you listed for the Monarch seems right but I just want to clarify. The other issue is the length of the Monarch you listed. The regular 8x42 Nikon Monarch is about 5.5 inches...not 7.

In terms of optical performance the Minox is significantly better than the Nikon. The Minox HGs have often been compared to the Leica Trinovids in terms of their image quality and since Minox originally was an "arm" of Leica it does make some sense.

$800 seems a little steep for them though. I have seen them down around $400 recently.

I own them.
I own so many pairs of binoculars, I have lost count.
I just went through an exercise in comparing them.
Yeah, I paid $400 shipped.
A Google search makes it look like the Nikon DCF HP has not been imported into the US since 2005, but is still available in AU and GB.

I own a pair of Monarch's in  8x42 and the length is 6.25 inches. I think the companies give the lenght measurements with the eye cups all the way in. that way they can post a smaller length measurement. But when i have them all the way out I measure 6 and a quater inches. My Zens 7x36 measure 6.5 inches.
