Finally got around to snaping a couple of pictures of my High Standard Supermatic Trophy that I've had for years in my safe. Thought some of you might enjoy.

I like the High Standard target pistols. I have a late production Victory model, not as nice as the older models, but it's still a tack driver.

Pretty neat, I've never seen one before.

Nice Pistol, Roy.  I've been wanting one of those and one of their .22 mag derringers for a while.

Super nice, Roy ! I like the old High-Standards, and am currently pursuing a J.C. Higgins version of this fine line of pistols.

Roy that is beautiful! The first pistol I ever shot was a mil model 107 push button barrel lock. Same barrel since 67 and only God knows how many rounds. It's still a tack hammer.

I owned both the old original High Standard Supermatic Citation with a bull barrel, and the High Standard derringer in .22 magnum.  Charlie Askins was a big fan of the High Standard target pistol, and recommended it highly.  That's why I bought it.  I later handed it down to a son who made the West Point pistol team as soon as he got there.

The Citation's accuracy and trigger pull were really fine, but the grip angle was a little too abrupt for my hand.  The current Ruger .22 automatic fits me better, and shoots just as well.  Interestingly, the Citation "doubled" several times when I first started shooting it.  High Standard fixed it under warranty and it was fine after that.

As for the derringer, I would recommend "against" buying it.  It had an atrocious trigger pull, and simply couldn't be aimed to any degree of accuracy.  It was strictly a belly gun, and in a minor caliber at that.  I didn't use it much because of this, preferring a Beretta .22 which was quick into action, very accurate, and offered three times as many shots.  We have far better choices in pocket carry guns nowadays.

plus one on wanting one of the High Standard  22 mag derringers those are a winner two shots double action only, if you can get your finger on the trigger nothing in the world can stop it from going off.  They lay flat enough to fit easily in a pocket.  I had one that I removed the grip pannels from and made a leather wallet with a hole for the trigger and put the grip screws through the leather and it looked just like a rectangular wallet when you pulled it out.  I carried it for years in Texas as a back up off duty gun.  22mag has significant ability to penetrate up close and personal and while its no 1911 it will certainly be a surprise if robbed of your wallet.  I carried it in the left back pocket and a 1911 inside the pants on the right. All I wanted was the element of surprise working in my favor and just as they start to relax thinking you are complying with their demand the metal meets the meat.

That is a nice looking gun, Roy.

The only Hi Standard I have is a DA 22mag revolver with 3" barrel.  Great little gun.  I am considering buying a 22LR cylinder for it.

Great pistol Roy, my father in law has an old one and according to him it's the most accurate pistol he owns.

I prefer one of the Kel-tec .32 automatics to the High Standard derringer.  Just as light (or lighter), just as flat, 8 shots, more stopping power, quick reload (7 more), and it can be aimed.

"Back in the day", though, the High Standard Derringer and the Beretta .22 and .25 were about the only real choices for a pocket gun unless you were built really big or wore overalls!   I totally agree about the value of the surprise element.

If the gun has to go on your waist, you might as well carry a real stopper!
