Curious as to what all of these abbreviation stand for?

BN, BA, BC AND HDC

B signifies "Brillenträger" = for glass wearers.  Longer eye relief and retractable eye cups.

A = Armored

C = Compact (like 8x20 and 10X25)

HDC = High Duration Coating

R = Rubber

L = Leather

The present models Trinovids are BN, the N signifies "Near for closer focusing".  The BN series replaced the BA series a few years back in reaction to Swarovski introducing the EL series that would focus extremely close.  They should have named them BNA because they are all still armored.

Thank you, Stephanie.

That was very much appreciated.  I've wondered, but the too-often mysterious coding of European makers have usually made it futile to decode.  Just never felt like trying.

Thanks again.
