This is one area where you can definately see the difference between the vx3 and the past model, the new coatings/glass excel in low light conditions.

That's funny Sam. I sat down at the computer with a bowl of popcorn, and opened this thread. About fell out of my chair after seeing that.

I have both VX-III and VX-3 3.5-10x50s and personally can't tell any difference. While good bright scopes neither are as good in low light as a 50mm Bushnell 4200, Weaver Classic Extreme or 40mm Trijicon and only slightly better than my Simmons MS AETEC 2.5-10x44. I've always been a big Leupold fan, but you gotta call em as you see em..................

I grew up on Leupolds, you didn't have a "real" scope unless it had the gold ring on it :)

Haven't bought one in years because I think there are better scopes for similar or less money
in fact, recently my dad wanted to replace his 20 year old 2-7 Leupold on his Sako 22-250 and I recommended a 2.5-10x42 Nikon Monarch, he loves it
My brother commented on it and was shocked my dad would buy anything but a Leupold....

I was just curious on the new VX3 1.5-5 with ill reticle
