Do you lose significant target concentration if you have long eye relief scopes?

I'm a newbie in terms of scopes, and what I observed that I have a reduced target concentration for longer eye relief scopes.  I've noticed that since I can significantly see the outer outline of the eyepiece rather than just the targets and the superimposed reticle.  I'm used to two eyes open, even at medium mag (9x), since I've been shooting dynamic/practical pistol for a number of years now.

From this, I have more prejudice on short eye relief scopes, especially for my ARs.  I haven't shot anything higher than a .308 yet, so this may change.

I honestly don't believe there is a yes or no to your question. It's all in what works for you. As you say, your situation may change so you'll have to adjust accordingly.

Hey, thanks for that!! It is like asking a golfer "Do you hold your breath or let it out when swinging at the ball?"
Now I will be staring at the periphary of the eyepiece, thank you! Hammer

The question is do YOU lose significant concentration...

I use long- and short-eye relief and don't notice a problem.

To each, his own.
