I have a Winchester reproduction Model 52 Winchester rimfire and looking at installing a Weaver K4 or K6 on it for squirrel hunting.  It's an excellent shooting rifle and I don't need anything with a lot of power.  The bolt also has very little clearance when a scope is mounted on it so a fixed power scope will probably provide more clearance.

Thoughts and opinions on these Weaver K series scopes would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have a Winchester Model 52B reproduction, too.  So far I have had several scopes on it.  I have Browning bases ( made by Burris years ago...) and Burris Signature rings. I have high rings on mine.

I had a Weaver K4 on it once.  One of the old scopes from El Paso, but the dimensions are still about the same as the new Japanese ones---they will clear the bolt handle with like a quarter of an inch or more-- in the high rings.  At one time I had a Simmons scope on there ( not a fat eyepiece scope..), and I had an older Redfield Traditional 6X on top.  Again, all these scopes were of the " Normal "  Leupold-Weaver-sized ocular family.

Recently I mounted a Bushnell 4200 4X16 X50 on top.  Again the eyepiece clears with lots of room.

You shouldn't have any trouble with the Weaver K series or the V series, either. They are all still building the "ordinary" -sized oculars.  It all depends on the mounts you get ( some are Lower than others....)  and you have to try to keep away from the real Fat Eyepiece Scopes.........

As far as the new Weavers go, I have never had one of the newer ones, but I understand that they are quite nice and well worth the money.  I would like to get one myself, someday, for another rifle.

Don't overlook the Weaver rimfire 4x.  It is even trimmer (28mm objective) and looks good on 22 profile barrels.  Side by side with the Leupold rimfire 4X, the Weaver showed a better quality image.  btw, you can make a good set of lens covers for the Weaver with a pair of 35mm film can lids.
