Best place to me is western south dakota. Early june is nice. Where do you want to meet me? Might be breaking the 1000 mile rule.

I shoot them in NE New Mexico in the vicinity of Clayton, usually 2X each year.  That is well short of your 1000 mile limit.  I've found the best time to go is mid-May to early June timeframe.  Weather is nice -- not too hot -- and they haven't been shot at as much at that time of year, so they stay above ground more.

If you or anyone else here wants to go with me this year, let me know.

If you mean Silver City, SD, Clayton, NM is about 680 miles down 385.  If you mean Silver City, NM, it's on the completely opposite side of the state diagonally, about 500 miles apart.

Keep in touch with me via PMs over the next few months and I'll let you know exactly when we're going as we get closer to May.  Trigger, you're welcome to come too... 500 or 680 miles isn't that far, really, when it comes to some good shooting fun!  I drive almost that far from where I live!

Can you get on the Pine Ridge reservatinn down around Manderson? That is only 850 miles for me. They are thick down there.
It is only 450 miles to Clayton NM. I have shot in Beaver OK. twice. It is not a very big town compared to the ones in SD.

You can get on there, but you have to bring beer. The locals like Budweiser, a LOT, and they require a native guide. These guides usually charge at least $100 a day, just to sit and drink your beer. Lord knows you need a good guide to shoot prairie poodles though. On top of all this they may require a tribal license. I have been working on lining up a new place about 2 hours from my house that will sustain all day shooting for a few guys. Actually, Lile, I am east of there quite a bit, and the place I'm looking at should be closer for you.
