My boss is asking me to look into scopes for his Eagle Arms .223 AR15.  All I know is that he wants to use it at a target range to shoot between 200-300 yds.  I've looked at other postings but could not find anything that covered mounting the scope on the handle.  Most AR15s with a scope that I have seen online have no handle.  I have seen the mounts that allow a scope to be attached to the handle but most people don't have this.  Is it a pain to shoot with a scope mounted on the handle?  Seems a little high to me.  What kind of scope would work best considering it will be mounted on the handle?  He has not answered my question regarding reticles yet.  But he is willing to spend $500.

Tell him to save up another 500 and go for the Trijicon ACOG 4x32.  They can mount ontop of the carrying handle through the hole.  It may be out of his price range but the ACOG is probably the best scope out there for the AR15.  Just make sure he gets the one that is for .223  If he is worried about his cheek weld with this combo just tell him to invest in a cheek piece.

Get the 49.95 Simmons (I think) SWFA is selling undercost, a 29.94 mount and keep his other $400.

It is not uncommon or a pain to shoot from the carry handle.  There are many mounts that will do this but selecting a scope with the mount already on it is the best way to go.  Top choices are any Trijicon ACOG and the Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T.  Both are a little bit more money but well worth it.

If he wants to stick to the budget consider the Super Sniper 10x42 with a carry handle mount and Leupold PRW 30mm low rings.
