Don't worry Stephine,

Some of that is fact, some of it is bunk!!!
His terms are correct but what they mean is bunk.
I can neither confirm nor deny any knowledge of  Nuclear weapons aboard any U.S. warship.  But I will say if there are, they are in good hands.     FC2(SW)

Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

There are some who do not fear death... for they are more afraid of not really living

+1
I've seen what it takes to launch a ICBM from a silo. It takes alot of people to make one launch in order to prevent an accidental, unintentional, or unauthorized launch. One computor ain't gonna do it.

Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.

There's lots of holes in that story.  I, too, doubt it.

On January 13, 1964, a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B-52_bomber - B-52 bomber carrying two 24-megaton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_bomb - nuclear bombs crashed on Savage Mountain during a winter storm. After an extensive search of the mountain, the nuclear weapons were recovered. A memorial to the incident, dedicated in July 1964, is located in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grantsville,_Maryland - Grantsville , MD. This B-52D was enroute from Westover Air Force Base, [Chicopee Falls,] Massachusetts, to its home base at Turner Air Force Base, [Albany,] Georgia. The crash occurred approximately 17 miles SW of Cumberland, Maryland.Prior to the crash, the pilot had requested a change of altitude because of severe air turbulence at 29,500 feet. The aircraft was cleared to climb to 33,000 feet. During the climb, the aircraft encountered violent air turbulence and aircraft structural failure subsequently occurred. Of the five aircrew members, only the pilot and co-pilot survived. The gunner and navigator ejected but died of exposure to sub-zero temperatures after successfully reaching the ground. The radar navigator did not eject and died upon aircraft impact. The crash site was an isolated mountainous and wooded area. The site had 14 inches of new snow covering the aircraft wreckage which was scattered over an area of approximately 100 yards square. The weather during the recovery and clean up operation involved extreme cold and gusty winds. Both weapons remained in the aircraft until it crashed and were relatively intact ( interesting term)  in the approximate center of the wreckage area.

My father's property backs up to the crash site .. the ORV trail that backs up to his property has a cross marking the spot where one the the crew members that passed away was found ... If things had gone horribly wrong, the whole county and then some would be a parking lot .

Anything that is mechanical is subject to breakage, but the people handling our nukes are highly trained and I am told by an expert that unless the bombs are serviced regularly they will not work as advertised so for what it is worth yes there are some radioactive threats but any lost and missing bombs are in all likelyhood unuseable and will NOT work.

They are not armed until minutes before launch .... virtually useless and believe me you don't want to walk up to one involved in a crash .... radioactive leakage may fry you . You're correct Umaginaryfriend . We need to worry more about those smiling new neighbors that moved in our neighborhood of the muslim faith .
