I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for rings and a base for a Remington 700 SPS Tac in a .308 with a SS10x42 scope. I was noticing that some companies like Badger Ord and LaRue charge an arm and a leg compared to say, the Burris Xtreme Tactical rings and base, is there a huge difference in quality between 150 dollar rings and bases vs 20 bases and 50 dollar rings? I was looking for something with the "tacticool" look to match the overall appearance of the rifle, mostly used for 100 and 200yd range shooting. Picatinny base is a must. Anyone have any information on any products or companies to lean towards and products or companies to stay away from when it comes to optics mounting hardware? When it comes to optics hardware I am sure that like all things you get what you pay for, but what sets the midrange stuff like the Burris Xtreme and Zeeline away from the higher end like LaRue and Badger Ord? Thanks in advance for your time.

if your shooting a 3k gap or a 4k surgeon with a 3k uso or sandb would you put $100 mounts and rings on it?? warne maxima, burris xtr, or leo pwr, will work just fine. there is a difference in the high dollar stuff, better finish, stronger screws, set-ups that will take many removals.  picatinny base isn't really a must, just get the warne weaver type bases (get the two piece set and have room for your fingers to load the rounds) and a set of max rings (or leo) and be set for about $45. you may think you need the tacticool look but to a seasoned shooter it will look just like what it is.

The XTR's will suit you just fine, should be no problem.

Don't skimp on your rings/base setup, as in optics, buy the best you can afford.
