there diamondback which is a step down from the viper is a pretty nice scope for the money and there no questions asked warranty/replacement program is pretty nice too, the viper is about the same quality as nikon monarch class.

Good scopes, in my opinon.  I just spent some time with a 4-12x40 and it is a very nice design.

The votex viper scope also has a very good replacement system if you break it you just bring it back no matter how it looks and it is over the counter replacement. No Questions asked.. I just bought a 3.5 x 10.5 X 50 for my 270 wsm and love it

How do you like having the 50 mm vs. 40 mm on your vortex?

You suree can't beat that little extra bit of light transmition when you are getting close to the end of shooting light. and that is where you really need it..

Dial the power ring down as it gets dark    6x for 42mm  7x for 50 mm

i have the 6.5-20x50 viper. very nice. i like it much more than my monarch 5-20x44. bigger field of view, great ergonomics[such as the large chequered power ring which is super easy to get hold of.also the resettable zero is handy!] and all round looks great and feels well made. thumbs up!!
