i did a comparison for two weeks between 3 3x9x40's
4200 elite
nikon monarch ucc
zeiss conquest
 
to be real honest they were so close i could call a winner in two weeks time, under most light conditions they all performed with similar results i liked the reticle on the conquest best out of the three, but for $150 more im not sure its worth it over the 4200. if i had to pick one i would buy the bushnell, rainguard is awesome, no plastic turret issues to deal with like on the conquest.

do the plastic turrets apply to the 6x20x50 models. i noticed that the ones with target turrets looked ok at least in the picture, but the ones with the hunter turrets may indeed be plastic,correct?

also while we are on the subject can anyone comment as the the field of view and eyebox of the 6x20x50 models. cheers.

Comparison of a Conquest vs some competitive scopes ( including the 4200 Elite) . I went into the "test drive" with the intent of buying a Conquest,but afterwards I didn't see the value in the extra $150 over the 4200 Elite.

Head positioning got a bit critical at the higher powers. Was great at 12x and under. That's why I rarely used my Conquest above 15x. Sold it recently to fund another scope in a lower magnification range. Personally I will not buy anything above the 4-14 or 3-15ish range again.

The conquest does have great glass but Nikon offers a better eye relief, you can not go wrong with the 4200 elite either.  Like you I could not really tell a difference when looking through all scopes...for me the deciding factor was eye relief 4 inches with Nikon and their warranty.  Take the difference of the conquest and buy several boxes of ammo instead and go with bushnell or nikon.
