I handled a pair at the local optics store with 2008 serial#   They were the same as mine with a 2007 serial#  Should they be different?

I think Murphy is referring to the new EL HD (or that's reportedly what it will be called) that is a complete redesign of the EL, supposedly offering a flatter field and no loss of image quality at the edge of the field.  The new EL HD will also feature fluorite lenses.  It isn't available for sale yet, so it's unlikely very many people have seen one outside of pre-production demo models.  Reportedly, they will be considerably more expensive than the existing EL's.

Here's the teaser...

From what I heard, the improved edge to edge sharpness and flatter field requires larger diameter ocular lenses, so they will have straighter barrels.

Here is a pic I found of the new EL HD...

Anybody know if these will actually be available this month? I would love to give them a try on my Colorado Elk hunt starting Sept. 5

I read on the Internet that they'll be officially unveiled this month at one of the Euro shows so probably not available here in the states for awhile. Probably be big bucks too!!
